The story of a FASHION DESIGNER


"This talented young designer may be fresh on the scene but her affinity for sewing and fashion started at a young age. With the best dressed Barbie dolls in her home town of Hartbeespoort in the North West of South Africa, Michelle was always drawn to the fashion industry. This motivated, a then 18-year-old Michelle, to move to Cape Town and pursue her BA degree in Fashion Design. After graduating from FEDISA in 2016, Michelle went on to work in the corporate fashion industry designing retail clothing for two years. Her ambition persuaded her to leave retail in 2019 and pursue her own design company. Starting Michelle Belle Dean Designs is just the beginning for this up and coming designer. Her journey has just begun, watch this space."

This quote by Kat van Duinen really speaks to me and inspires the driving force behind Michelle Belle Dean Designs.

I will always strive to create ethical garments made by hand. As I believe this injects a unique character and energy into each piece.

Supporting local artisans and suppliers is also a top priority for me. Although sustainable fabrics aren't always viable or accessible in South Africa, I hope that soon we will have better access to these resources.

A brand can never be perfect and I will always look for new ways to improve and better Michelle Belle Dean Designs' impact on the environment.
